The Senate Committee on Immigration, aroused by the entrance of thousands of aliens in excess of their quota allotments due to the Markarian and other court decision, will write into the immigration bill to be reported as soon as possible after a hearing on March 11 a provision which “will make it possible for any court to throw open the doors again in this way”, according to Commissioner Henry H. Curran, Mr. Curran returned to Ellis Island yesterday from Washington. The liner Colombo is due today from Italy with almost 2000 immigrants, which will bring the total number of Italians to come in over their quota in the last six weeks up to 8000.
