The Simon Wiesenthal Center asked the Egyptian ambassador in the United States to condemn comments made by a government-sponsored Egyptian newspaper about U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell’s visit to Israel. The Al-Akbar newspaper refers to Yad Vashem as the “memorial of the false Holocaust of the Jews” and said Powell wore a “cursed yarmulka” that caused him to “lose his righteousness, to forget justice and to free himself of any wisdom or logic.”
