The small Jewish community of Braunschweig has begun renovating and restoring its community center. The construction of the two million Mark project will probably last almost three years. But a major problem is still raising the necessary funds. The town of Braunschweig has announced it would make available one million Marks. As to the remaining one million Marks, the community hopes for donations and for support from various government agencies. A major part of the additional sum needed might be financed through a public program supporting cultural projects.
