The speaker of Israel’s Knesset sent his Jordanian counterpart a letter expressing regret for a confrontation last week between Jewish settlers and a Jordanian parliamentary delegation in Hebron. Avraham Burg sent the message at the request of Israel’s ambassador to Amman, who sought the speaker’s help in easing tensions between the two countries in the wake of the incident.
