The Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a case brought by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee against the Justice Department. The suit accuses U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service officials of selectively targeting Palestinians for deportation because of their political beliefs. The justices will decide whether the ADC can bring the claim to federal court on free speech and free association grounds. The Justice Department, which alleges the Palestinians were involved in terrorist activities, argues that the claims should be heard in an administrative deportation proceeding.
