The sympathy of leading French statesmen was conveyed to a mass meeting held here last night at the Salle Wigram to protest against the Palestine outrages. Five thousand persons were present at the meeting which was addressed by Dr. Stephen S. Wise.

Joseph Caillaux, eminent French statesman, in his message said that he was “always protesting against injustice.” Pierre Renauled, Socialist deputy, said: “I deplore the victims on both sides.” Messages were also received from Justin Godart and others.

Dr. Stephen S. Wise, who was given a great ovation by the meeting declared. “Jews are no strangers, no intruders in Palestine, no ‘schnorrers’ but partners with the Britain who must keep her solemn promise. A thousand Hebrons and Safeds won’t keep the Jews from building Palestine, which must remait, a British mandate. The administration. (Continued on Page 12)

Dr. Wise paid high tribute to the Jewish self-defense who, he said, “feel like men, arms in hand, defending then country.”

Among the other speakers were Hille Zlatapolsky, Russian Zionist leader, and Bernard Lecache, who blamed the Palestine administration.
