The Synagogue Council of America, national coordinating body of the rabbinical and congregational associations of Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Jewish communities, today expressed its anxiety over Pope John’s illness, and offered fervent hopes for his speedy recovery. In a statement, the Council said:
“We share with an anxious world its heartfelt prayers for the Pope’s speedy recovery. The Pope has made remarkable progress in bringing peoples of the world closer together. He has long been in the forefront in the quest for religious, racial, political and economic Justice for all people irrespective of race, creed or station in life. We add our prayers to those of the Catholic community in this country and throughout the world. “
