The U.S. ambassador to Russia hosted a first-night Passover seder at his Moscow residence. Leaders of Russian Jewry, including Russian Jewish Congress President Vladimir Goussinsky, and Jewish Americans working in the Russian capital attended the March 31 event. The seder hosted by James Collins reinstituted a tradition maintained by American diplomats during the Soviet era. Also on the first night of Passover, Josef Kobzon, a Jewish lawmaker and popular singer, led the choir at Moscow’s Choral Synagogue.
