The U.S. Congress passed a bill that would require the Defense Department to review the records of Jewish American servicemen. The review will be made to see if any Jewish veterans are eligible for the Medal of Honor. The bill, which passed both houses last week as part of the Defense Authorization Bill, addresses criticism that some Jewish servicemen were denied the medal because of their religion.
