The U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution honoring Yitzhak Rabin. A pro-settler extremist killed the Israeli prime minister in 1995. The resolution noted that just before his death Rabin had addressed a peace rally, where his last words were, “I have always believed that the majority of the people want peace, are prepared to take risks for peace.” The resolution, sponsored by Rep. Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.), “condemns any and all acts of terrorism; and reaffirms unequivocally the sacred principle that democratic leaders and governments must be changed only by the democratically-expressed will of the people.” The measure passed Tuesday, 399-0.
