The U.S. Jewish federation system is “in urgent need of major change,” the system’s top professional told delegates attending the system’s General Assembly in Chicago. While praising the federations’ successes, Stephen Solender outlined several key challenges for the United Jewish Communities, including allowing donors more opportunities for “designated giving,” being relevant to younger Jews and upgrading technology.
