The U.S. NATO Committee chairman warned that anti-Semitism and nostalgia for the pro-fascist World War II Romanian regime could hinder Romania’s entry into NATO. Bruce Jackson, in Bucharest to meet with Prime Minister Adrian Nastase and President Ion Iliescu, also said Romania was “making real progress,” and had good chances of being admitted to NATO later this year.
