The U.S. Reform movement plans to ask its members to donate as much as they can of the tax rebates the federal government is expected to send to taxpayers in the coming months. Every Reform congregation is being asked to form a charity collective, and each member will decide how much of the rebate they will donate to the collective. The movement believes the Bush administration’s tax plan hurts social service programs and disproportionately benefits the wealthy.
