The U.S. Senate Finance Committee approved a bill that would increase resources to charities. By a vote of 10-1, the panel approved the Charity Assistance Recovery and Empowerment Act, known as the CARE Act, which would provide a tax deduction of up to $800 per family for contributions to charities and allow people to roll over IRA accounts to charities, with no tax penalty.
