The U.S. Senate voted to ensure that settlements paid to survivors of the Holocaust and their heirs are exempt from Federal income taxes. The vote was on an amendment to the tax bill, which is still being debated. Similar legislation was introduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), and Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.).
