The U.S. State Department denied that John Bolton met top Israeli security officials without permission. A story in Thursday’s International Herald Tribune said Bolton, the undersecretary of state for arms control who is facing a tough Senate confirmation battle to become U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, met with Israeli, French, Russian and British officials without clearing the meetings with State Department officials.
