The U.S. Supreme Court turned away an appeal by the governor of Alabama to overturn a lower court’s decision to limit religious practices in public schools. The judges, without comment, refused Gov. Fob James’ request to rescind a ruling made by Judge Ira DeMent which struck down a state law that would have allowed voluntary prayers at public school events. James is still challenging DeMent’s decision to a federal appeals court.
