The United States has to learn from Israel about security, but it will never practice ethnic profiling like Israel, a U.S. official told JTA. Asa Hutchinson, the undersecretary for Homeland Security, toured Israel in November to learn what Israel could contribute to the U.S. post-Sept. 11 border security. He toured Israel’s West Bank security barrier and quizzed Israeli officials about identifying suicide bombers.
