The United States is planning a new initiative to end Israeli-Palestinian violence. “We are looking for opportunities to become more actively engaged, and in the days and weeks ahead I think you will see us do more toward that end,” U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell said after a round of meetings with Middle East leaders at the United Nations. Neither Powell nor State Department spokesman Richard Boucher gave any indication of what the United States has in mind.
