The United States recalled its ambassador from Syria. The State Department announced the move Tuesday, a day after a suicide bomber killed Rafik Hariri, a former Lebanese prime minister, in Beirut. Hariri was active in efforts to end Syria’s long-time occupation of Lebanon. Some Hariri supporters blame Syria for the killing, but Syria denies involvement.
