The United States stepped into a dispute between Israel and the Palestinian Authority over Israeli demands that three offices in Orient House, the Palestinians’ de facto headquarters in eastern Jerusalem, be shut down. During a meeting Thursday, U.S. Ambassador Edward Walker persuaded Israel’s public security minister, Avigdor Kahalani, to postpone the closure order by a day.
