The United States will seek U.N. recognition of Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. Israeli officials say the United States will ask for a U.N. statement after the withdrawal declaring that the Israeli occupation of Gaza has ended. It would be similar to the U.N. statement issued after Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000.
