The United States will sell the Israeli Air Force so-called “bunker-buster bombs.”
The Department of Defense announced Friday that it would sell Israel 1,000 of the sophisticated smart bombs, which are capable of penetrating underground reinforced concrete defense facilities.
The Israeli media had reported that the United States was not willing to provide Israel with bombs that could be used to attack Iran’s nuclear sites.
In its announcement, the Pentagon also said it would sell Israel 28,000 Light Anti-Tank Weapon tube launchers to help upgrade the army’s Patriot anti-aircraft missiles.
Congress has 30 days to block the $77 million deal.
