The vandalism Sunday of Jewish graves in St. Petersburg is linked to a recent spate of xenophobic acts, Russian Jewish leaders said. Vandals desecrated about 50 graves, most of them Jewish, in the Victims of the Jan. 9 Memorial Cemetery, which has a large Jewish section. Swastikas and anti-Semitic graffiti were painted on the tombstones, and several of the headstones were damaged.
