The widower of an Australian athlete killed as a result of the bridge collapse at the start of last July’s Maccabiah Games in Israel filed a $3.5 million negligence suit against the Jewish state, the event’s organizers and the builders of the bridge. The suit, which was filed in the Jerusalem District Court on behalf of the husband of Elizabeth Sawicki, was the second to be filed in Israel by a relative of one of the Maccabiah victims.
