Hungarian Jews breathed easier today following publication of Premier Paul Teleki’s speech to Parliament on Thursday night in which he not only ignored the “Jewish question” but entirely omitted any reference to the long-expected third anti-Jewish law in discussion of the parliamentary agenda through May.
The Premier thus strengthened the growing belief in political circles that Hungary’s anti-Semitism would be restricted to enforcement of the present law and no further measures would be taken as long as the war’s outcome remained doubtful.
