The third group of the weekly cash prizes totaling $100 will be awarded winners of this week’s competition in the third Biggest Jewish News of the Week contest, which starts in today’s Jewish Daily Bulletin.
Entry Coupon No. 1 appears today and a new entry blank will appear each day until Friday, when the third week of this fascinating, educational and lucrative competition will close.
Readers and students who have entered the second week’s contest for a share in the $100 will learn in the Friday, November 30, issue of The Bulletin how they have fared. On each succeeding Friday thereafter the winners of each new week’s contest will be announced. Winners of the first week’s contest were announced in last Friday’s Bulletin. Results of the third week will be published Friday, December 7.
Entrants in the second week’s contest have until midnight Monday to bring or mail their 250-word letters telling what is the biggest Jewish news of the week and why, to the offices of the Jewish Daily Bulletin, 221 Centre street.
As this interesting competition swings into its third week, letters from noted educators and journalists praise the contest. Splendid endorsements come from Samuel M. Blumenfield, director, Department of Youth Education of the Board of Jewish Education. Rabbi Blumenfield writes: “I consider your enterprise indeed worthwhile, for through such means I believe our young people’s interest could be directed to the important events in Jewish life. I shall be glad to bring the attention of the young people affiliated with our organization to your contest. Sincerely yours (signed), Samuel M. Blumenfield, Chicago.”
