John Barden, University of Chicago athlete, has returned home from a two-month tour in Germany with a number of bruises received when he failed to salute the Nazi flag in Hamburg on August 18.
Barden was attacked by a storm trooper while he stood watching a squad of soldiers pass. The trooper rushed at Barden, charged that he had not saluted the flag and a fist fight ensued. After the fight Barden was allowed to explain that he was an American and apologies followed.
