Thousands of Jews in the provinces of Moldavia and Bessarabia are likely to lose their citizenship, newspapers here report, because they are unable to pay the fees to obtain documents proving their nationality rights. Moreover, in many towns local authorities, before issuing the documents, request payment of overdue taxes, which is impossible for the needy Jewish masses.
