Thousands of Chabad-Lubavitch Jews rallied in Brooklyn for the late Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson to reveal himself as the messiah. Wednesday night’s rally came on what would have been the 102nd birthday of the rebbe, who died in 1994. The belief that Schneerson will return as the messiah is not accepted by most members of Chabad, and is not the movement’s official policy.
