Thousands of pro-settler activists rallied in Israel against Ariel Sharon’s plan to withdraw from Gaza. Demonstrators at Wednesday’s rally said the prime minister’s plan to dismantle Jewish towns in Gaza would reward Palestinian terrorism. Spokesmen for the settlers’ movement vowed to press right- wing parties to quit Sharon’s government if the withdrawal plan is adopted.
