Thousands of mourners participated today in the funeral of Dr. Leo Motzkin, noted Jewish statesman and pioneer Zionist leader, who died here Tuesday. Interment was in Montparnasse Cemetery. The remains will later be removed to Palestine.
Several hundred members of the Maccabee, Zionist youth sports organization, acted as a guard of honor at the funeral.
Rabbi Moses Eisenstadt officiated at the services, and eulogies were delivered by Isaac Naiditch, leader of the Paris Zionists, and Isaac Gruenbaum and Berl Locker, members of the executive of the Jewish Agency for Palestine.
Delegations from all the Jewish organizations in France and a delegation representing the Russian Social Revolutionaries attended.
The coffin of the dead statesman was draped with the blue and white Zionist flag and numerous Zionist flags were placed at the head of the funeral procession.
