Tribute to the memory of Heinrich Heine was paid yesterday by many thousands who visited the lonely grave of the poet at Montmartre Cemetery here.
Yesterday was the seventieth anniversary of Heinrich Heine’s death. The German Embassy in Paris has lately assumed the care of Heine’s grave, while before the war Kaiser Wilhelm refused to recognize Heine as a German poet.
Yesterday for the first time official German representatives placed wreaths on his grave.
