Three British Jews Receive Knighthood

The New Year’s honors list comains the names of three Jews upon whom knighthood was conferred.

The honor was conferred upon Albert Levy of London for his public benefactions; the Hon. Daniel Levy, speaker of the Legislative Assembly of New South Wales, former editor of the “Australian Hebrew” magazine; and Menasseh Meyer, leader of the Jewish community in the Straits Seulements.

Albert Levy is treasurer of the Royal Free Hospital Recently he contributed $250,000 to a fund for rebuilding the hospital’s maternity department and for research into causes of maternal mortality and invalidity.

The new department is to be named for the Queen by her consent.
