The three-day National Young Leadership Conference of the United Jewish Appeal, aimed at developing future Jewish community leaders, will open tomorrow at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. All of the young 300 delegates are actively engaged in assisting the UJA campaigns in their local communities to raise funds for the resettling and rehabilitation of distressed Jews throughout the world.
Welcoming the delegates, representing communities throughout the country, will be Joseph Meyerhoff, UJA general chairman. Rabbi Herbert A. Friedman, UJA executive vice-chairman, who returned only a few days age from a study mission to Europe and Israel, will report on the problems facing the Jewish people abroad.
Among the speakers will also be Avraham Harman, Israel Ambassador to the U.S.; Edward M.M. Warburg, UJA honorary chairman and general chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee; Max M. Fisher, UJA national chairman and treasurer of the Jewish Agency for Israel, Inc.; General Haim Barlev of the Israel Defense Forces; Gottlieb Hammer, executive vice-chairman of the Jewish Agency for Israel, Inc.; Moses A. Leavitt, JDC executive vice-chairman; James Rice, director of United Hias, and Philip Soskis, director of the Hew York Association for New Americans.
