Five Egyptians, including three army officers and two privates, were captured by an Israeli patrol this morning while conducting a reconaissance mission inside Israel, near Nitzana, on the Egyptian border. They were in an Egyptian patrol car. The five included a lieutenant colonel, a major and a captain. They were believed to have been trying to gather information about Israel’s troop movements on the border. They were brought here for intensive interrogation.
Seven Israelis were slightly injured yesterday morning when an armored half-track was blown up by a land mine in the vicinity of Karem Shalom one mile inside Israel’s border on the Gaza Strip. This was the first incident on that border since the withdrawal of the United Nations troops and the current crisis.
