Three Israeli soldiers were wounded in one of four attacks in south Lebanon yesterday. Military sources said attacks on the Israel Defense Force average 70 a month but better security measures have kept casualties down.
Government officials, meanwhile, are awaiting further information on the apparent murder of Raoul Mizrachi, 45, a wealthy Jewish merchant of Beirut whose strangled, mutilated body was found Friday at Khalde, near Beirut Airport. Mizrachi was buried Friday in Sidon. Israeli officials and IDF officers attended the services.
The government has not decided whether the case calls for any measures by Israel. There have been suggestions that Mizrachi was murdered by Shiite Moslem extemists because of his dealings with Israel. Members of his family and friends say he declined to move to Israel because he believed the situation in Lebanon would improve soon and it would once again be a good place to live and do business.
