Three members of the Jewish Defense League, all college students from New York City, were freed Friday of charges of unlawful entry onto Soviet Embassy grounds here. Chief Judge Harold H. Greene of Superior Court dismissed the action, brought by the Metropolitan Police, after the Embassy failed to produce a complaining witness to substantiate the charge against Aric Illowitz, 18; Josh Weise, 19, and Gene Kleinhedler, 18. The trial without jury of Rabbi Meir Kahane, national JDL chairman, and three other members was concluded Wednesday, with Judge Greene reserving decision. The JDL’ers had been charged with demonstrating within 500 feet of the Embassy.
