Three out of four claims for indemnification for sufferings inflicted by the Nazis or for compensation for property confiscated by them are stymied in the District Court here. In accordance with a requirement of the Bavarian Indemnification Law, every claim in these categories must be approved by the court before payment is made. Of the 28,500 claims presented by victims over the past several years, only 7,400 have been ruled upon.
