Three supporters of American Nazi party leader George Lincoln Rockwell were arrested here and held for $10,000 bail each after a clash which broke out last night when they demonstrated against the showing of the film “Exodus” at the Boyd Theater here, Rockwell, who had threatened to come himself to picket the film, did not show up.
Sixty-four anti-Nazis were also arrested along with the Rockwellites; however all but three of these were summarily released. Two of the three anti-Nazis,Jules Christine and Benjamin Comer, were held for court in $300 bail on charges of carrying concealed weapons. The third, Mark Charleston, was fined $10 and costs for disorderly conduct.
Ralph P.Forbes,20, of Arlington, Va.,one of the three Rockwell supporters who were charged with rioting, inciting to riot, conspiracy and breach of the peace , expressed surprise at the size of the bail and said that Rockwell had given him $30 before the incident “to pay the customary fine,” The other Nazis were Raymond D. Goodman,28,of Arlington, and Schuyler Ferris,46,of Falls Church, Va.
(Arab college students, who are in the United States on temporary visas, were disclosed today in Washington to have circulated notices to at least 20 universities in the United States which urged fellow Arab students to “Join the American Nazi party in its efforts to stamp out an insidious group” and to demonstrate against the Israel-based film, “Exodus,”)
