Three U.S. Army transports left Bremerhaven, Germany, this week carrying 407 U.S.-bound Jewish immigrants who were assisted by the Joint Distribution Committee, it was announced today. All are being admitted to this country under the DP Act providing for the admission of displaced persons on the basis of employment and housing assurances.
The J.D.C. maintains a corps of experts on hand to process the DP’s for emigration and help unravel all the legal complexities involved in procurement of visas and employment and housing assurances. In addition, the J.D.C. cares for the DP’s while they await transportation, providing shelter, food, clothing and medical care.
