A funeral service was held today for Tillie Mehler who died yesterday at her home in Manhattan at the age of 83. Born Tillie Greenbaum on the Lower East Side she was a founder of the Passover Relief fund that for more than 25 years distributed tons of holiday food for poor New York Jews. In 1918 she became the first secretary of the Israel Aid Society, which then helped Jewish settlers in Palestine. Mrs. Mehler served as an officer or member of dozens of organizations, including the American Mizrachi Women, United Ladies Aid Society, and the Nashim Rachmanios Society.
