The New York Times said editorially today that the Dominican settlement plan “shines like a candle in the dark void in which struggle uncounted numbers of Europeans harried or driven from their homes by persecution and war.” The editorial said that “the Sosua idea, the transfer of oppressed peoples to lands where they can find work under guarantees of liberty and equality, should be preserved.”
