The New York Times reported from Moscow yesterday that signs of disagreement were evident in a joint communique issued after a four-day visit to the Kremlin by a top-level Egyptian diplomatic and military mission. The communique said the parties agreed that urgent steps were needed to “eliminate the consequences of Israeli aggression.” But the Soviets seemed committed to resort to diplomatic means. President Gamal Abdel Nasser of Egypt was reported to have sent his delegates to Moscow to try to effect a shift of Soviet policy toward a more militant position, the Times said.
