President Tito of Yugoslavia stated today that his country fully backs the efforts of the Arab countries to regain their territory occupied by Israel by whatever means they can. He accused Israel of “obstinate refusal” to accept a just and peaceful solution and blamed United States arms and financial aid to Israel for perpetuating what he called Israel’s aggressive policies.
Marshal Tito’s remarks were contained in an interview published by the official Yugoslavian news agency, “Tanguy.” He said that aggression and expansion conducted by the Israeli government has led to an extremely grave deterioration of the situation in the Middle East.” He charged that “the Israeli government blocks all efforts made to find a peaceful and just solution to the Mideast crisis in harmony with the interests of all peoples in the area.”
