A resolution calling for the establishment of a committee including representatives of the rabbinate and various Jewish organizations here to advise on problems concerning religion in the public schools was adopted at a meeting sponsored by the American Jewish Congress and all Chicago rabbinical groups.

The resolution pointed out that any introduction of religious practices into the public schools of this area was a matter of genuine concern to the Jewish community and that from time to time specific aspects of the problem requiring coordinated and consistent examination would arise. “It added that in view of these facts it would be advisable to form a consultative committee of representatives of the rabbinate, community relations organizations and the general Jewish community, to be known as the “Chicago Joint Advisory Committee on Religion in the Public Schools.”
