A committee of fifty-five young Jewish professional and business people in Essex County will sponsor the third annual “commencement in absentia” for German-Jewish students deprived of degrees and diplomas by the Hitler regime, next Thursday night at the Ezekiel Home, 179 Clinton Avenue.

Included among the committee of fifty-five are graduates of twenty-seven collegiate institutions and professional schools.

Speakers scheduled include Professors Solomon Flink and Albert Abarbanel of Dana College; District Court Judge Louis R. Freund of Newark; Samuel Roessler, member of the Newark Board of Education; A. S. Kanengieser, newly elected grand master of the Independent Order Brith Sholom, and former Prosecutor Jacob L. Newman, chairman of the current United Jewish Appeal drive. Rabbi Harry S. Jacobs of Newark will give the invocation and Rabbi B. L. Stolper of Montclair will give the benediction. Abraham Silverstein, chairman of the committee of sponsors, will preside.
