The Minister of Education, Prof. Constantine Anghelescu, promised today to rescind a recently invoked ban on the teaching of Jewish religion in the State schools. Announcement of his decision was made following an audience with Senator Dr. Jakob Niemirower, Chief Rabbi of Bucharest.
The ban, which had been announced Oct. 13, ended the practice whereby Jewish pupils, who were not permitted to attend classes in the Christian religion, studied Jewish religion as a substitute part of the curriculum. Private instruction was not prohibited.
