The first two volumes of the “Sefer Ha-Ikkarim.” Book of Principles, by Joseph Albo, the largest undertaking of the Schiff Library of Jewish Classics, are announced for publication on December 2 by Dr. Cyrus Adler, chairman of the Jewish Classics Committee of the Jewish Publication Society of America.
The Ikkarim was composed in the early part of the 15th century, and has remained a popular work among the readers of Hebrew literature. It is the last of the philosophical and theological classics of Medieval Judaism.
Its author is well known as the writer of the Middle Ages who reduced Maimonides’ list of the Thirteen Fundamental Principles of the Jewish Faith to throe.
