John A. M. Faraday, assistant superintendent of the Palestine police, will be transferred to Beersheba, as a result of Arab complaints against him, it was learned today. Faraday was in command of the Jaffa district and was responsible for the order to fire on the rioting Arab mo## on October 27, when several thousand Arabs attempting to hold a forbidden demonstration, charged the police near the administration building. His firm stand ### is considered to have been responsible for preventing the serious disorders from attaining even wider proportions. Faraday was wounded while commanding the police detachment at Jaffa.
The order transferring him to the outlying Beersheba district will be effective about the middle of next month. It is learned that the transfer was ordered on the highest authority as an apparent result of numerous complaints regarding police activities in quelling the demonstrations. Sir William Murison is now conducting an inquiry into the activities of the police in putting down the disorders, having been designated as president of the inquiry commission by the High Commissioner, Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope.
Faraday has been in the Palestine service since 1922. Previously he had seen military service and had been a member of the Royal Irish Constabulary.
